Courageous Healing Inc. to host Heal the Land: Outdoor Cleanup Day

On World Mental Health Day, Saturday, October 10th at 10 a.m. Courageous Healing Inc. will host its first community action event Heal the Land: Outdoor Cleanup Day! A morning of celebrating Southeast Fort Wayne's first healing center through a socially-distanced outdoor cleanup. The event is open to the public, all safety guidelines will be followed, and exact projects will be determined that morning depending on the number of participating volunteers.
The event will take place at Courageous Healing Inc.’s new building, located at 2013 South Anthony Blvd. The building is the official continuation effort of owners Janell and Aaron Lane to provide quality counseling and mental health wellness to BIPOC communities in Fort Wayne. They believe that by making mental wellness accessible, affordable, and culturally-centered, they will contribute to both the empowerment and liberation of the communities they serve.
Having a physical space will enable Courageous Healing Inc. to align their services with the unique challenges people of color experience, such as the stigma of mental illness, distrust of systems, lack of culturally competent providers, and lack of adequate insurance.
Generations of navigating systemic, institutional, and internalized racism deserve the space, the tools, the balm, and the healing agents that are long overdue to BIPOC communities. Courageous Healing Inc. is committed to changing the perception of mental and emotional healing through:
Cultural competency: People seek therapists who celebrate their identities; finding them should not be an overwhelming task. Courageous Healing Inc. aims to make this process simple and safe. Their therapists are culturally responsive, from diverse disciplines and backgrounds allowing them to address the complexities of their clients' identities in an affirming and responsive way.
Accessibility: Upholding economic equity is essential to them. Courageous Healing Inc. will offer therapy on a sliding fee scale for clients who are uninsured, underinsured, and who demonstrate financial need, as well as providing services for those who have private insurance or the means to self-pay. The addition of the facility provides clients with the option of engaging in teletherapy, in-person therapy services, or a combination of both with sensitivity to COVID-19 recommendations and protocols.
Spaces as sanctuary: Courageous Healing Inc. takes pride in offering a variety of confidential therapeutic services including group therapy, specialized workshops, events, as well as individual, couples, and family therapy in a confidential and safe setting. The building will be warm, supportive, with a healing environment in which clients feel safe strengthening, unlocking, and building upon the skills that they already possess to manifest the changes they want to see in their lives.
