Melissa Hall, LMSW

Melissa Hall is a Therapist at Courageous Healing Inc. and a Diversity and Inclusion Consultant for Courageous Living Inc. She is a Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner, Peer Recovery Specialist, Community Health Worker, Wrap II Facilitator, Postpartum Doula, CAPRC II, and Rapid Resolution Therapy trained.

Melissa understands that trauma does not discriminate, and it has encoded itself on all of us. For some, though, the devastation in its wake changed and encoded their very DNA. And those are the resilient human beings she wants to work alongside and whose stories remind her why she does what she does.

A visionary by nature, Melissa developed a Postpartum Doula Program: For you, By You - a fresh approach to maternal care to shift the narrative around its core aspects, such as nutrition, curriculum, and representation, while holding space for those creating and nurturing a new life and uprooting the horrific maternal and infant outcomes in our city, specifically to Black and Brown mothers. To all of her endeavors, Melissa brings the same passion, drive, and expertise that makes her a successful Field Instructor for IU'S School of Social Work, and former program developer and implementer for Northeast Indiana's biggest health care provider.

Melissa holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Women's Studies and a master's degree in Social Work. A self-described advocate, feminist, life-long-learner, and melting pot of different races and cultures, Melissa is always willing to start from scratch if the existing rules are not inclusive for all. With roots in Liberia, Ethiopia, Ireland, England, Quakers, Judaism, and the deep South, she is intrigued by the complexity and resiliency of every breath of life.

Melissa is a yogi, travel enthusiast, bibliophile, and consumer of a copious amount of tea. Mama of 4 and Foster Mama, her and her husband Joe, Fort Wayne Fire Department's firefighter, raise their multiracial family to embrace their heritage and unlimited potential. If she isn't camping, having a deep conversation, or eating local cuisine, you can find her growing her indoor garden, snuggled up with her family, or writing furiously before she forgets her thought.
